(Lagrange, GA) — An inmate at the Troup County jail is facing a new charge after allegedly soliciting the murder of a Troup County Deputy.
Authorities say that an investigation by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division began on August 20, 2020 after they received information that 28-year-old Jonathan Taylor Lawrence of Senoia, GA was possibly soliciting the murder of a deputy.
Lawrence is charged with one felony count of Criminal Attempt Murder after an investigation found he had attempted to contact an undercover officer and give them a plan to murder the deputy.
Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Stewart Smith stated in a press release that Lawrence made “substantial steps” to have the deputy murdered.
The name of the deputy is not being released for security reasons.
