Local Church Fellowship Hall Damaged by Morning Fire

(Franklin, GA) — The fellowship hall of a local Heard County church suffered severe damage after a fire broke out Thursday morning.

According to a press release issued by Heard County Fire Chief Steve Wirth the blaze was reported Thursday morning at 9:27 a.m.

The Heard County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the call at El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church located at 5991 Hwy 34 West for a report that the church was on fire.

Upon arrival firefighters found the fellowship hall fully involved with fire.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the fellowship hall and the church itself was not damaged.

The fellowship hall is a total loss, and according to Wirth, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
