Newnan man charged with murder in overnight shooting at Hogansville American Legion

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting which occurred at the American Legion in Hogansville.

At approximately 2am, Troup County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting which had occurred at the club on American Legion Road.

After their arrival, one male victim was discovered lying in the floor with a gunshot wound.

Paramedics attempted to revive the victim; however, the male subject did succumb to his injury. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Ronald Rashun Cameron of Hogansville.

The perimeter around the area was promptly secured. As Investigators arrived on scene, they began interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.

A short while later, a 22-year-old Newnan man was identified as a suspect and placed under arrest by Troup County Sheriff’s Office Investigators.

Kevin James Simon, Jr. is charged with murder and is currently being held at the Troup County jail.
