Possible child abduction attempt in Troup County

(Lagrange, GA) — Authorities with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office say a man tried to kidnap a little girl while she was crossing the street.

On Sunday, August 5, around 7:15 PM, Troup County deputies responded to the area of Reed Road in reference to a possible attempted kidnapping.

The minor child was crossing the road when a white male wearing what appeared to be a wig approached her while driving a small four-door white car.

The adult male exited the vehicle and attempted to grab the child on the lower portion of her leg. The child was able to get away and subsequently fell to the ground and screamed.

Relatives rushed to the child and the male told her he was coming back for her, prior to leaving the location. He was later seen in the parking lot of the fire department on Reed Road.

The vehicle is described as a small white four door car, unknown make and model. The male is described as white, with long brown hair, down to his ears, possibly a wig.

He was wearing a white shirt, white pants, and black boots. He had “older looking skin” according to the minor child. He had no facial hair, and appeared to be trying to portray himself as a woman.

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone with information regarding a suspicious white vehicle in the area of Reed Road to please contact our investigators at 706-883-1616 or Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
