Three arrested after armed robbery of elderly woman

(Franklin, GA) — Two adult males and one juvenile are facing charges following the armed robbery of an elderly woman late Sunday morning in Franklin.

The suspect made off with just $6.00 — all the money the woman had at the time.

According to a report by Lt. Tino Brooks with the Franklin Police Department, the 911 call came in around 11:45 AM Sunday morning in regards to the alleged incident that took place at the Franklin Manor Apartments located at 770 Mary Johnson Drive just inside the Franklin City Limits.

An elderly woman in her 70’s claims that she and a younger female family member had just arrived home from church when two black males with partially covered faces entered her apartment demanding money. One of the men brandished a handgun while the other was wielding a box cutter.

After the woman handed over the small amount of cash, the suspects left the apartment and there were no reported injuries.

Upon arrival at the scene, Lt. Brooks interviewed witnesses in the area and viewed surveillance footage from nearby JAC Products before subsequently arresting the two adults and one juvenile. The juvenile is believed to have also played at least some role in the crime.

18-year-old Aundre Watkins, Jr. and 18-year-old Corey Ware along with the 16-year-old male juvenile have been arrested and are currently facing charges of armed robbery and criminal trespass but will likely face further charges pending further investigation into the incident.

The two adult males are believed to reside near the apartment complex.
