U.S. Marshal Service, Local Police Make Arrests in Franklin

(Franklin, GA) — A man wanted for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender was arrested Thursday morning in Franklin by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Franklin Police Department.

According to a press release issued by Franklin Police Chief Kevin Hannah, James Arthur Miller was wanted by both the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and Coweta County Sheriff’s Department for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Miller, nicknamed “White Bread,” is also listed as an Absconder on the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Sex Offender Registry.

Reports indicate that Miller (born in 1987) was arrested at a residence on South River Rd. near Franklin Parkway.

Before being taken into custody, Miller initially attempted to escape capture by exiting a bedroom window, as law enforcement officers from the U.S. Marshals Service announced their presence.

During Miller’s arrest, authorities also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the living room of the residence.

At the conclusion of the investigation, officers from the Franklin Police Department charged three adults and two juveniles with Violation of Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act – Marijuana Less than 1 Ounce.

The Department of Family and Children Services also responded to the incident location for the purpose of investigating concerns regarding the presence of juveniles.
