GSP releases names of all victims in Troup County crash

(Lagrange, GA) – The Georgia State Patrol has released the names today of all victims of Friday night’s major crash in Troup County.

HeardCitizen.com initially reported early this morning that the two drivers involved, Willie L. Hooks, 28, and Melanie Lemmon, 23, both of Lagrange, were killed in the crash.

Reports by Wright today indicate that five other passengers were riding in the 1995 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Lemmon. Miranda L. Hurston, 37-years-old, Quamari C. Harrison, 1-year-old, and Tridarius Harrison, age unconfirmed, all of Lagrange, were killed in the collision.

The other two passengers in the Grand Am were life flighted from the scene and they are reported to be Jayvianna C. Hurston, 15-years-old, flown to Atlanta Medical Center and Shaquavious S. Harrison, 18-years-old, flown to Columbus Medical Center.

None of the passengers in the Grand Am were related to the driver Melanie Lemmon, but reports indicate that all five of the other passengers are related.

*****3:30 PM Saturday Update: The Georgia State Patrol has now confirmed Tridarius Harrison as a 16-year-old. It is also confirmed that Miranda Hurston was the grandmother of Quamauri and the mother of Shaquavious, Jayvianna, and Tridarius. Shaquavious is reported to be Quamauri’s mother. The driver (Melanie Kay Lemmon) and the front seat passenger (Miranda Hurston) were the only people involved wearing seat belts. The one-year-old (Quamauri Harrison) was being held by a back seat passenger and was not restrained. Jayvianna Hurston is reported to be in stable condition at Atlanta Medical Center at this time. *****

A 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass, driven by Hooks, was traveling north in the southbound lane at 6:40 p.m. Friday evening while passing a vehicle on a hillcrest in a no passing zone.

The Oldsmobile struck the southbound Pontiac Grand Am head-on on Georgia Highway 14 south of Hudson Road.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor and blood was drawn from Willie L. Hooks for testing.

An eyewitness account of the accident was reported early this morning by lagrangenews.com.

No other information is available at this time. As reported earlier, Melanie Lemmon (maiden name Sellers) was a 2007 graduate of Heard High School.
