UPDATE: Heard County Deputy involved in Wednesday’s fatal ATV accident

SFC James Corbett of the Georgia State Patrol released new information today about Wednesday night’s four-wheeler accident which claimed the life of 23-year-old Brittany McCormick Griffin of Franklin.

The report stated that two four-wheelers were involved in the incident which took place Wednesday evening at around 9:15 p.m. in Coweta County.

Brittney Griffin was apparently a passenger on the back of the ATV driven by her husband, Steven Griffin, 22, who also resides in Franklin.

The couple were headed southbound on Corinth Road in Coweta County when the driver, Steven Griffin, left the road and collided with another ATV causing Brittany to be ejected.

The driver of the other ATV, 23-year-old Ryan Loubet, is  currently employed as a Deputy of the Heard County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Heard County Coroner Kathie Buchanan, the preliminary autopsy reports released Friday show that Griffin died from an accidental blunt force head trauma.

Corbett stated that none of the parties involved were wearing helmets.

As of this time no charges have been filed but the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is still investigating. Corbett indicated the investigation could take several months to complete.

There is so much that I would love to say to Brittany. She was a great friend with the biggest heart. I know that she loved Steve and her family very much. She would have done anything for anybody. I pray for peace during this hard time for Steve and the rest of Brittany’s family & Friends. Brittany, I hope you rest in peace… I love you girl.
