UTV-Truck crash claims life of local man

(Franklin, GA) — A collision between a pick-up truck and a UTV claimed the life of a local man Friday night in northern Heard County.

According to reports by the Georgia State Patrol, 42-year-old Jason Craven was killed when the UTV he was operating left the roadway while traveling on Welcome Road and crashed head-on with an oncoming 1996 Dodge Truck driven by a 54-year-old female.

Craven allegedly left the roadway and hit a mailbox before over-correcting and crossing into the truck’s path in the opposite lane of travel.

Craven was pronounced dead after being transported by ambulance to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, the female driver of the truck is not believed to be at fault.

Investigators believe alcohol was the contributing factor in the crash that took place about 10:00 PM Friday.

Craven was a 1994 graduate of Heard County and resided in the Roosterville area.
