Wanted man believed to be in Heard County area

(Franklin) — Authorities with the Heard County Sheriff’s Office are following new leads tonight and believe that 28-year-old Criss Langston remains on foot in the local area.

“We believe the suspect is still in the local area,” said Sergeant Dan Boswell Thursday evening.

According to Boswell, Langston apparently returned to his home overnight around 12:30 a.m. leaving a note that was later recovered by authorities.

Boswell stated that an additional missing firearm from his home was later located near a tree stand in the woods nearby.

“Based on fresh footprints near the deer stand, we believe the suspect may now be wearing tennis shoes,” said the investigator.

Langston was last spotted near the Glenn area in Heard County west of Franklin. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that Langston may be receiving assistance from another person or persons.

A warrant has been issued for Langston’s arrest relating to a felony crime committed on Wednesday.

Boswell indicated that additional information is not being released in order to protect the victim involved in the felony act.

Langston is out of jail on bond from Troup County where he is facing charges of murder, tampering with evidence, theft by taking and possession of a firearm in relation to the March 14 shooting death of  Michael Anthony Starnes, 48, of Heard County on McCosh Mill Road in Troup County.

Law enforcement is asking that anyone that comes in contact with Langston call 911 immediately and not approach him as he is believed to be armed and possibly dangerous.

  1. Seems to me it would have been a good idea to have someone in law enforcement watching his residence. maybe by hiding close by.

  2. Another weapon missing from his home ? Seriously? The authorities release a man from custody that has been arrested for murder , using a shotgun . He is allowed to go to his home that obviously contains an abundance of guns . And these “rocket scientist” are supposedly keeping us safe ?
