Wanted man surrenders to authorities; charged with Statutory Rape

(Franklin) — At the urging of his father, 28-year-old Criss Langston of Franklin  turned himself in to Heard County authorities around 6:00 a.m. Friday morning at the Sheriff’s Office in Franklin.

According to the lead investigator in the case Sergeant Dan Boswell, Langston had been hiding out in the area surrounding his home on Highway 34 west of Franklin.

The wanted man had been eluding law enforcement since Wednesday afternoon following the issuance of a felony arrest warrant. Lansgton is charged with Statutory Rape and according to Boswell additional charges are pending.

Langston was out of jail on bond from Troup County where he is already facing charges of murder, tampering with evidence, theft by taking and possession of a firearm in relation to the March 14 shooting death of  Michael Anthony Starnes, 48, of Heard County.

The shooting took place on McCosh Mill Road in Troup County.
