Weather forecast forces Friday night’s HHS Graduation indoors

(Franklin) — Plans to christen the newly remodeled Staples Stadium for the 2016 Heard High School graduation ceremony have been changed due to a poor weather forecast for the Frankin area Friday night.

Instead, the commencement exercises will take place indoors at Roopville Road Baptist Church, the same site as Thursday night’s scheduled baccalaureate ceremony.

According to school officials the decision to move the large event was not taken lightly. The ceremony is scheduled to begin in the sanctuary of the church at 8:00 PM.

The sanctuary holds about 1100 people and the overflow crowd will be able to watch the ceremony via monitors in the lobby and corridor areas.

Doors will open at 6:00 PM and guests of graduates are asked to arrive early and carpool as possible due to limited parking at the church.

154 HHS seniors are scheduled to graduate Friday.
