Paramedics Called as Franklin Mayor Becomes Incapacitated During City Council Meeting

Paramedics had to be called to the Franklin City Hall earlier tonight as the Mayor Teresa Chapman suffered an episode of immobilization during the regular December meeting of the Franklin City Council.

Heard County emergency personnel were called to the scene as the meeting went into a short recess. As the meeting had moved from old business to new business Chapman was suddenly unable to speak or respond to council members.

The Chief of the Heard County Fire Department, Scott Blue, was on hand and immediately came to the mayor’s aid and made the call via radio for help.

Chapman was taken to the back of City Hall for further evaluation as the meeting continued under the guidance of the Mayor Pro Tem Johnny Adams.

During council comments near the end of the meeting Councilman Bo Almond asked that everyone pray for the mayor pointing out all the stress she has been under recently as the town prepares for the big Christmas Parade and other festivities planned for Friday night.

Mayor Chapman returned to the meeting just as it was finishing up and appeared to be feeling better, but she had nothing to say during the mayor comments portion of the agenda.

After the meeting she stated that she had not felt well all day and that she has been under a lot of stress due to to all the work going on for the Christmas festivities.

Chapman is scheduled to be the Grand Marshall for the parade on the town square tomorrow night.
