Carroll County man dies at local restaurant

Larry Cotton(Franklin) – A 62-year-old Carroll County man, Larry Cotton, died suddenly from a heart attack Tuesday afternoon while dining at the Hardee’s restaurant in Franklin.

Heard County coroner Kathie Buchanan reports the man had a history of heart problems. Family members report that Cotton was an avid fisherman and was here on a fishing trip.

According to his obituary Mr. Cotton was born March 2, 1951, in Douglasville, the son of the late Judge Glaston “Hoss” Cotton and Gussie Morgan Cotton.

He was retired from The City of Douglasville where he worked as a crew chief in the Street Maintenance Department for more than 20 years. He was Baptist by faith.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at J. Collins Funeral Home in Villa Rica.

    Many of us living in Heard County have studied and prepared to assist and prevent such a loss. HEARD COUNTY COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM is saddened by not being able to assist and avoid this tragic time for Mr. COTTON’s family. I beg that ALL PEOPLE learn CPR and 1ST AID so that we can prevent such a loss.Mr Cotton’s smile clearly made many people grin!!!!! red

    • I could not agree more, Mr. Montgomery. We are offered CPR through the school and the next time it’s taught, I will be there.
