Charles Israel sworn in as new City Councilman

(Franklin, GA) — New Post 3 Franklin City Councilman Charles Israel was sworn into office by City of Franklin Election Supervisor Karen Boyd on Monday, April 27 in the Joel W. Rogers Municipal Courtroom.

Israel will take over the seat and for Kevin Hayes who stepped down to seek the Mayor position after the passing of Mayor Rogers in February.

“I am humbled and honored to now be sworn in as a councilperson for the great City of Franklin. I am appreciative of those that have backed me and encouraged me on this journey,” said Israel after being sworn into office.

“I look forward to getting to know and learning from Mayor Hayes and Council. I accept the challenges ahead and look to God for the wisdom to help lead us through this pandemic and beyond. Stay safe my fellow citizens and feel free to reach out to me with insights that could help make our city better for us all.”

Israel is not stranger to our readers having appeared in our top “Good News” stories in both 2017 and 2018.

In 2017, the Fairburn Police Detective was hailed a hero after his quick thinking and swift action likely may have saved a young boy’s life.

Israel swept the boy away from a dangerous situation after he was nearly backed over by a pickup truck in a parking lot.

In 2018, Israel again made the good news headlines on July 7, 2018 when he and his wife Tricia were married on the football field at Staples Stadium.

Israel are two of the Brave Nation’s most dedicated supporters and Charles attended his 100th consecutive Heard High football game last fall.

Hayes and Israel both qualified without opposition for the respective positions and will each complete terms set to expire at the end of 2021.
