Cook Walk-off Homer drops Pirates (Video)

Lady Brave Senior Jasmine Cook proved once again Saturday why she was chosen as the Bravy Award Female Athlete of the Year during the spring.

Cook connected on a two run walk-off home run to break a scoreless tie with the Pike County Pirates and give the Lady Braves a big 2-0 victory.

The Lady Braves were in need of a big jolt after losing their first two games of the season to Carrollton on Wednesday and Bowdon on Thursday.

Freshman Jordan Watson tossed the shut-out for the Lady Braves from the mound giving the Lady Braves the victory.

The win removed an enormous monkey from the Lady Braves’ backs as they had been dominated by the Pirates for the last several years since defeating them last in 2005.

In a later game the ladies fell to defending AAAA State Champions currently the AAAAA Northgate Vikings 2-1.

Senior Tiffany Smith pitched well but runs were difficult to come by and the Vikings took home the close win.

The Lady Braves (11-3) will be back in action Tuesday when they host region rivals Bremen (5-AA) at 5:30.
