(Franklin, GA) – Thanks to a timely bowel movement by a 3-year-old bull named “Cowboy Bill,” one lucky gentleman from Franklin won a nice prize last Thursday at the Heard County Covered Arena.
In a raffle contest sponsored by the Heard County High School baseball and softball teams, a $2000 cash prize was awarded to Waymon “Deacon” Jones of Franklin. Jones brought home the big money about five minutes into the contest when “Cowboy Bill” pooped into square #429.
It was also a nice birthday present for Jones as Thursday was his 61st birthday. The first annual fundraiser was a huge success raising over $7000 for the two sports teams.
“It was a great event tonight,” said HHS Athletic Director Shane Lasseter. “We would like to thank my mom and dad, Benny and Sue Lasseter, for supplying the bull, Heard County BOC Chairman Lee Boone, Keith Jenkins of the Heard County Cattlemen’s Association, and of course everyone who bought tickets for the event.”
