(Franklin) – Cpl. Larry Denney of the Heard County Sheriff’s Office has retired after 23 years of service to the department and the citizens of Heard County.

Denney began his law enforcement career  in 1990 under Sheriff Frank Crook. During his employment with the Sheriff’s Office, Cpl. Denney worked in various positions within the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Ross Henry and staff held a reception in honor of Cpl. Denney where he was honored by his family, friends and fellow co-workers.

“Seeing Larry retire at this time is a bittersweet moment. We are sad to see him leave us, but we are also proud for him and wish him the very best in his retirement,” stated Heard County Sheriff, Ross Henry.

“I would like to thank Cpl. Denney for his many years of dedicated service not only to the Sheriff’s Office, but to the citizens of Heard County. I’d also like to thank his family members for their patience and support throughout the years. Being employed in law enforcement means that many times our families sometimes are without us on holidays and other special occasions. I speak on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office when I say that we will miss Larry and he will always be a part of “our family,” added Sheriff Henry.
