(Opelika, AL) — Desmonte Leonard, convicted of the 2012 murders of three people at an Auburn apartment complex, was sentenced to life without parole by a Lee County judge on Tuesday afternoon.

Presiding over the court was Circuit Judge Jacob Walker, who also gave Leonard another life sentence for attempted murder, 20 years for first-degree assault and two 10-year sentences for second-degree assault. These sentences will run consecutively.

Leonard, 25, of Montgomery, AL was convicted this past October in the shooting deaths of former Auburn football players Ed Christian Ladarious Phillips, and DeMario Pitts of Opelika. The shootings happened in June 2012 during a party at an Auburn apartment complex.

Former AU player Eric Mack from South Carolina and Roanoke natives John Robertson and Xavier Moss were injured in the shooting. Phillips was also from Roanoke, while Christian was from Valdosta, Ga.

In October, the jury recommended life without parole for Leonard.
