(Franklin) — The Braves varsity baseball team christened the newly remodeled Alford Field in a big way Monday at Heard High School knocking off the Landmark Christian Eagles 7-1 in their 2014 home opener, the first game played under new head coach Trent Bianco.
Senior Taylor Smith was excellent on the mound working 4 and 2/3 innings allowing only one earned run on a fifth inning homer to the Eagles. Smith allowed only two hits and struck out four and also contributed at the plate scoring two of the Braves seven runs with a hit and a walk.
Tristan Brown and Zack Stephens each had two hit games with Stephens notching two RBI’s. Designated hitter Jason Adams also added two RBI’s while Lee Kay and Brown each had one.
The Braves return to Alford Field Tuesday where they will host the Central Lions from Carrollton. First pitch is at 6:00 p.m. or immediately following the JV match-up at 4:00.
