(Ephesus, GA) — Members of the James Stewart Chapter, NSDAR, attended the Awards Program at Ephesus Elementary School on Friday, May 24, 2019, to announce their 2018-19 recipient of the DAR Youth Citizenship Award.

DJ Caouette was chosen by the school faculty as the student who best exemplifies the qualities of a good citizen. Those qualities are honor, service, courage, leadership and patriotism.

In addition to the DAR award, DJ also received awards for Highest Grade Average for 5th grade, Highest AR (Accelerated Reader) points for 5th grade, the Principal’s Leadership award, Duke University Talent Award, Musical Director Award and Perfect Attendance.

When she is not in school, DJ is active in her church and plays softball.

The DAR Youth Citizenship Program began in 1933 with the goal of recognizing the outstanding young people in our community who exhibit the qualities of good citizenship in their homes, schools and throughout the community.

One of the most rewarding activities for our chapter members is the opportunity to interact with Heard County students.

In addition to supporting DAR Schools around the country, we also support our local schools throughout the year in various programs and activities.

Contact your Heard County chapter at jamesstewartchapterdar@gmail.com with any questions regarding this and our other programs. You may also call (770) 856-3354 to chat with a chapter representative.
