Elite 8 State Playoff Preview: Braves vs. Holy Innocents

(Franklin) — The Heard County Braves will host the Holy Innocents Golden Bears in the third round (Elite 8) best-of-three series of the 2016 GHSA Class AA State Baseball Playoffs.

The series will begin with a doubleheader on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. with each team needing two wins to advance to the Final Four.

If the teams split Tuesday’s doubleheader, the two teams will play a third and deciding rubber “if” game at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday also at HHS.

The winner of the series will take on the winner of the Wesleyan/Berrien series May 16-17. If the Braves advance, they would travel for that series.

THE WINNER: The winner will move on to face the winner between Wesleyan (#1 seed in Region 6-AA) and Berrien (#1 seed in Region 1-AA) in the state semi-finals (Final Four)

ADMISSION: $10 for Tuesday’s DH and $7 for Thursday’s “If” game as determined by the GHSA

WEATHER: Cloudy to partly cloudy both days with highs in the mid to upper 80’s and a 20 % chance of showers
