(Franklin) — A well-known Ephesus couple were injured along with a mother and daughter after a two-vehicle crash in Franklin late Friday morning.

According to a report by Trooper Anthony Clark with the Georgia State Patrol, the accident occurred around 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Hwy 34 West and Hwy 100 North just inside the city limits of Franklin.

Clark’s report indicates that a Ford Taurus driven by 78-year-old Gary Brandenburg of Ephesus along with his wife Wilma failed to yield to a westbound Chevy Cruze driven by 23-year-old Ariel Sewell of Carrollton along with her mother Jennifer Scharar.

All four occupants were transported to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton with non life-threatening injuries.

The most seriously injured was the passenger in the Taurus, 73-year-old Wilma Brandenburg. She was later transported by ground to the Grady Hospital trauma center in Atlanta.

According to Wilma Brandenburg’s daughter Susan George, Wilma suffered some very serious injuries and is expecting to face a long recovery period. She remains hospitalized in ICU this morning.

George says that her father Gary suffered some less serious injuries but refused to leave this side of his loving wife of 58 years.

The Brandenburg’s granddaughter Emily Davis is thankful that her grandparents are going to be ok.

“Please continue to keep my grandparents in your prayers,” said Emily Saturday. “My grandmother is very thankful for all the thoughts and prayers from the local community.”

Jennifer Sharar said via email Saturday afternoon that she and her daughter are in a lot of pain but have been released from the hospital.

Sharar is the owner of Big Chic in Roanoke, AL. The accident is still under investigation by the GSP.
