Fatal crash leaves one dead, one seriously injured near Centralhatchee

(Franklin, GA) — A two-vehicle crash near Centralhatchee Wednesday evening claimed the life of an Alabama woman and seriously injured another man from Troup County.

54-year-old Dianne Oliver of Luverne, AL was killed on impact during the collision which occurred at around 6:00 PM on U.S. HWY 27 just south of Hyatt Road.

Reports from the Georgia State Patrol indicate that Oliver was not at fault in the crash.

Oliver was driving southbound on HWY 27 in a blue 2020 Nissan Rogue when a white 2002 Dodge Ram truck driven northbound by 72-year-old William Beasley of Lagrange traveled through the grass median and impacting with Oliver’s southbound vehicle.

As a result of the crash, both vehicles came to a final rest on the west side of the highway.

Multiple witnesses stated that Beasley was driving erratically prior to the crash, but it is unclear if a medical event or other factors may have played a part in the wreck.

GSP was unable to obtain a statement from Beasley due to the severity of his injuries. He was transported by Heard County EMS to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Oliver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Other than the two drivers, no other passengers or injuries were reportedly involved.

The crash is still under investigation by the GSP Troop D Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) and any charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
