Five killed in New Year’s traffic statewide

(Atlanta, GA) — The Georgia State patrol reports that traffic crashes across Georgia during the New Year’s holiday travel period resulted in five fatalities.

Individual traffic deaths were reported by the Georgia State Patrol post in Cartersville, the Waycross Police Department, and the Marietta Police Department.

Two fatalities were reported by the Cobb County Police Department.

State Troopers investigated 137 traffic crashes with 52 injuries during the 30-hour holiday period which began at 6:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and continued through midnight on New Year’s Day.
