The plea stemmed from an April, 2020 incident at the Piggly Wiggly in downtown Franklin.

Jiles was accused of stealing a beef filet tenderloin from the local grocery store.

According to reports, Jiles allegedly swapped the price tags between the beef tenderloin and a less expensive cut of pork at the store on Sunday, April 26 and proceeded to purchase the more expensive beef for the lower price.

Store management became aware of the incident on Monday, April 27 and notified the Franklin Police Department when a customer pointed out the large price tag on the pork.

The beef tenderloin was originally priced at $83.24 while the pork tenderloin was originally priced at $12.16.

As a result of the guilty plea, Jiles received 12 months probation, a small fine, and must reimburse the store.

Jiles was an active member of the City Council at the time of his arrest but resigned later in 2020 citing a move outside of the district.
