Fritts attended Heard County schools with the class of 2003 and according to his obituary had recently moved to Hogansville.

According to a report by The Newnan Times-Herald, authorities unsure about when Fritts was shot and do not have any suspects at this time.

It is still unknown if the auto accident or the gunshot was the cause of his death.

The incident occurred in the area of 98 West Washington St., just after midnight on Friday, January 20 when police received a report of an accident with injuries.

First responders arrived to find a Ford Sport Trac had crashed through one utility pole and heavily damaged another. The driver was still inside the truck when police and paramedics arrived, according to Newnan Police Chief D.L. “Buster” Meadows.

Fritts was unresponsive when officers arrived at the scene. Fire and EMS crews later determined he was dead and had suffered a single gunshot wound, according to Meadows.

Because of the damage from the accident, nearby residents and businesses were without power for several hours while crews worked to repair the lines.

A memorial service for Fritts was conducted last Saturday by Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home.
