(Atlanta, GA) – Georgia Power has named Johnny Howze Plant Manager of Wansley Steam Plant near Carrollton.
Howze previously served as manager of Georgia Power’s Plant Branch.. He began his career at Southern Company in 1990 as a summer student, and has progressed through various leadership positions at Alabama Power, Gulf Power and Georgia Power, including plant manager at Gulf Power’s Smith and Scholz plants.
Howze also served as assistant to the executive vice president of Georgia Power’s customer service organization, serving as a loaned executive with Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin’s administration. Howze has been an active member in the community throughout his career, with involvement in The United Way, The Bay County Chamber of Commerce, The National Society of Black Engineers and The American Association of Blacks in Energy.
Howze earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from The University of Alabama, and completed the executive MBA at Kennesaw State University.
