Harrod Wins GACA All-Star Home Run Derby

(Rome, GA) — Recently graduated Heard High School softball star Cali Harrod made a huge impact this week at the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association all-star doubleheader held on the campus of Shorter College in Rome.

Harrod made her mark even before Wednesday’s doubleheader by winning the Home Run Derby on Tuesday.

She hit two homers in round one and then pounded seven in round two to win the derby over second place finisher Jenna Pealor from Northgate High School.

Harrod started at second base for the North squad in Wednesday’s twin bill and had a solid day at the plate with two hits and two RBI’s.

The south squad swept the doubleheader which featured the top softball talent in the state of Georgia.

Harrod was thrilled to be the first Heard County athlete to compete on the élite all-star team.

“It was such an honor to be recognized as one of the top players in the state and getting to play with and against other top players,” said Harrod this week.

“It was a great experience and I was very blessed to be able to play in such an awesome environment.”

Cali will leave for Florida State University this weekend where she has signed a softball scholarship.

She will, however, still see more action this summer on the weekends with her travel team, the Atlanta Vipers.
