HCHS 2019 Graduation Ceremony

(Franklin, GA) — Heard County High School graduated 150 students Friday evening during the 2019 commencement ceremony held at Staples Stadium.

An overflow assembly of family, friends, and members of the community braved scorching temperatures to usher off the Class of 2019 into the next phase of life.

Principal Brent Tisdale welcomed those in attendance prior to the processional entry of the graduates accompanied by the performance of “Pomp and Circumstance” by the HCHS Band.

Several seniors addressed the crowd including seniors Haley Bennett who led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance and Jakab Moon who said a prayer.

Class Salutatorian Mason Hudson and Class Valedictorian Jordan Cornelius addressed the huge crowd before Mrs. Maggie Bonner shared a special recognition.

Principal Tisdale and Heard County superintendent Rodney Kay then presented and accepted each of the seniors.

Senior Jessica Tatum led the ‘Alma Mater’ and the senior class officers led the traditional “Turning of the Tassels” and offered the presentation of the class gift.

Mr. James Arp announced all of the graduates to their friends and families as they received their coveted diplomas.

Following the ceremony, the crowd flooded the football field for photos and congratulations.

About 2500-3000 people attended the ceremony while many others watched the event online via live stream on youtube.
