(Franklin) — Coach Joe Nutt and the HCMS Boys basketball team continued to shine Monday at HCMS where they defeated the rival Bowdon Red Devils 51-35 to remain undefeated in the regular season.
The Braves were led by eighth grader Kendaz Goode who scored an outstanding 18 points in a game the Braves never trailed.
Overall, the Braves had three players in double figures as Jaden Moreland scored 14 and Emory Jones added 13. Rounding out the scoring were Kayo Bradfield with four and Jake Harrod with two.
Nutt was pleased with the effort by his guys in the big rivalry game.
“I was pleased with how the kids came out and played today,” said Nutt. “The Red Devils have strong squad and I knew our kids would be pumped up because we were playing Bowdon. Kayo Bradfield stepped up and played real well on defense tonight.”
In girls action, the middle Lady Braves coached by Kelly Hadley continued to improve and kept it close throughout before falling to the Lady Red Devils 37-27.
Sage Kelly led the scoring with 15, Haley Bennett had six, Emily Iddins added four, and Anna Cosper had two.
The Braves and Lady Braves return to action today when they travel to Buchanan to take on the Haralson County middle School Rebels.
