HCMS Honor Society visits Georgia Tech

On March 9th members of the Heard County Middle School National Junior Honor Society visited The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).

Students toured the campus and some were allowed to visit engineering labs while on campus.

“We want our students to begin thinking about college and setting high expectations for themselves. Science and Engineering jobs are growing 70% faster than other jobs in our economy,” stated HCMS Principal Mike Roberts.

The middle school is in its first year of having a local chapter of the Honor Society. In order to be eligible for membership students must have a 3.75 grade point average or higher for all core academic classes.

Students must also show leadership potential and a willingness to serve their school and community.

“I liked the Mechanical Engineering building. It’s much different from a regular classroom. Right now I’m planning on attending there after graduation.” Zack Ball 8th grade student
