(Franklin) — The HCMS Lady Braves basketball team turned things around last week getting their first two victories of the season over Mt. Zion and Temple.
The Lady Braves traveled to Mt. Zion on Monday where they knocked off the Eagles 21-13 in a defensive physical battle.
Haley Bennett and Sage Kelley led the scoring for the Lady Braves with seven points each while Anna Cosper added six and Emily Iddins scored a free throw.
The very next night, the Lady Braves used a strong second half to take down Temple with a final score of 35-28. Sage Kelley was the hot hand scoring 16 points with Bennett adding nine. Cosper scored six once again and Maliyah Dunson also added a bucket.
First year head coach Kelly Hadley was excited for her girls accomplishments. “Our girls play hard and together as a team and have been working hard on the fundamentals all season long and it finally paid off on the scoreboard,” said Hadley. “They hustle at every practice and do everything I ask of them I am so proud of them.”
The middle school basketball teams will enjoy some time off for Christmas break before returning top the court in January for more league games.
