Coach Kathy Scott and the middle school Lady Braves basketball team continued a hot run in division play this week posting big wins over the rival Bremen Blue Devils and Bowdon Red Devils at home.
On Tuesday, Alyssa Cosper and Aspen Barker led the way offensively with 13 and 11 points respectively as the girls downed Bremen 41-37.
It was the second time the Lady Braves defeated the Devils in a close game having won the first meeting 38-36 at Bremen earlier this season.
Sage Kelly also continued to play well scoring eight points and Kimberly Harris added five. In Thursday’s 39-25 win over the Red Devils, Hannah Stephens led the way scoring 12 in one of her top offensive games of the year.
Kelly also finished in double digits with 10 points including a very exciting 3-point shot as the buzzer sounded to end the third quarter.
Ally Harris had a strong game with nine points and Hannah Sanders added six. Cosper’s stellar effort on the other end of the court led the way defensively.
“We played really well tonight,” said Coach Scott after the game. “All of our starters really performed well especially Cosper on defense. Hannah Stephens was also a huge key on both ends of the court.”
The middle Lady Braves move to 6-1 in division play and will travel to Carrollton this Tuesday before returning home Thursday for 8th grade day in the regular season finale with Mt. Zion.
The division tournament takes place the following week at Mt. Zion.
