HCMS Lady Braves off to a hot start

The HCMS Lady Braves are a perfect 7-0 on the season

(Franklin, GA) — The Heard County Middle School Lady Braves basketball team defeated Valley, AL 20-15 in Lagrange Thursday to close out the pre-holiday basketball schedule.

The middle Lady Braves 2018-2019 record now stands at a perfect 7-0 following a scorching hot start to the season under second year head coach Shaqueri Talmadge.

The season started with a 34-25 win over Central in the tip-off tournament where Jayden Boykin led the scoring with 14 points.

In the regular season opening 42-28 win at Bowdon, Boykin again led the way with 19 points while Jasmine Owens had a strong game with 10 points.

Boykin, one of the best looking basketball prospects in the county again had 19 in the 34-30 home opening win over Villa Rica. She is averaging more than 13 points per game for the season.

Jasmine Owens has been strong throughout the season reaching double figures in scoring on three occasions.

In a big crossover 37-25 tourney win versus Bay Springs, Samantha Williams had a strong effort with 10 points.

The HCMS Lady Braves will return to action at home on Monday, January 7, 2019 as they host rival Bowdon at 5:00 PM.
