(Franklin) — As we reach mid-September, we are getting into the heart of our division schedules. This is when we need to our athletes to reach down deep and continue to work hard in order to achieve our goal, a division championship.

We had a great finish last week at HCMS with both the football and softball teams getting big division wins.

Our football team came out on top in a divisional match up against Mount Zion by a score of 26-6. This game was very hard-fought with our Braves finally being able to pull away in the second half for the final margin of victory.

This week is Bowdon week — we will begin preparing for the Red Devils on Monday. The game will kickoff Thursday afternoon at 5:30 in Bowdon. We need all of you to make the trip to Bowdon and support our Braves in this big rivalry game.

Our softball team notched their first division win of the season against Villa Rica. The Lady Braves won by a score of 12-2. They will continue division play on Tuesday when they play host to Temple. This game could play a huge role in post season seeding so come out and get loud and support the Lady Braves.

On Thursday, Haralson County comes to town and our ladies will be looking for revenge against the Rebels, who defeated them earlier in the year.

The HCMS Cross Country team has a busy week ahead of them as they travel to Temple, Carrollton and Long Cane. If you get a chance, try to take in one of these events and support our runners as they are preparing for the league championships.

As we are preparing for this weeks games and sporting events I want out athletes to think about the following quote and their involvement and contributions to their respective team: “There are three kinds of people in this world — people who make it happen — people who watch what happens — and people who wonder what happened.” ~ Tommy Lasorda

Now athletes, when you look at yourself, which type of person do you want to be?

Come out and support our athletes, coaches and teams as they continue their respective seasons.
