10U Braves players, coaches, and cheerleaders after Saturday’s big 28-0 win in Carrollton

(Carrollton, GA) — Coach Josh Parmer and the 10U Braves thwarted Carroll County Silver 28-0 on the road Saturday led by Erozinis Edmondson, Jr. and a host of other stand-out performers.

Edmondson, Jr. had a huge game on all sides of the ball including a long kickoff return for a TD o special teams, two rushing scores from 15 and 52 yards away, a fumble recovery and several key hits on defense.

The 52-yard score (see video below) came on a reverse hand-off from Jonathan Echols and quarterback Slade Parmer.

Jonathan Lacey scored the other touchdown on a long scamper in the second quarter.

The most exciting defensive play of the day did not end up in points but brought the Brave faithful in attendance to their feet.

Nose tackle Mason Bailey picked up a fumble in the Lion backfield and headed towards the other end zone for what would have been an exciting touchdown, but the play was whistled dead because league rules prevent some of the lineman from running the ball.

A couple of the extra point plays also proved very exciting including a nice pass play from Todd Huey to Will Alford.

Camden Cosper also provided two points on the rare 10U extra-point kick (see video below) before the half. The Braves led 22-0 at the half.

The Brave defense dominated the entire game and came up with a big goal line stand in the fourth quarter.

Alford recovered a fumble on the fourth down try from inside the 2-yard line and Jacob “Juice” Miles made a huge tackle on another down. Miles got a chance for a nice carry on offense late in the game.

The 10 Braves move to 1-1 on the season and will host Villa Rica Purple this Saturday at HCPR.

12U Braves 27, Bremen 6

The 12U Braves had a chance to compete at the high school stadium in Bremen and gave the visiting fans a nice show winning 27-6. The Blue Devil’s lone TD came on the last play of the game. Ashton Bonner had another big game for Coach Cain Dean’s squad with three touchdowns.

The Braves’ special team came up huge when Ethan Lawson recovered and onside kick to start the game leading to Bonner’s 40-yard rumble two plays later. Blake Baldwin scored the other Braves touchdown as well as an extra point run. Noah Shelnutt and Cody Hand scored on extra point attempts while also anchoring the defense.

 8U Carroll County Silver 18, 8U Black Braves 7

The 8U Black Braves put up a good fight in the first half before the Silver team pulled away late. The play of the day in this game was a 64-yard TD run from Bradley “Tater” Marsh with 4:53 to play in the second quarter. Justin Hanson got the extra point to pull the Braves within five.

The Lions defense had a goal line stand to keep the Braves from a go-ahead score near the half after Drew Betts recovered a fumble for the Braves defense. The Braves defense had another nice play late in the game when Marsh and Trevor Baker forced a fumble which Marsh recovered. Cayden Wood also had some nice tackles and Mack Googe led the offense at QB for Coach Robert Hanson.
