(Atlanta, GA) – The Heard County Sheriff’s Office recently received a grant in the amount of $8,000.00 from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
This grant was for the purchase of an Intoxilyzer 9000 to replace the current machine. The Intox 9000 is used to test the amount of alcohol a subject has consumed.
The Heard County Sheriff’s Office is part of the GOHS western regional traffic enforcement network. These networks hold monthly meetings and road checks in each sponsoring agency’s territory.
To be awarded a grant, agency’s must be active within their networks, host and attend monthly meetings and road checks, and send in monthly traffic stats to GOHS.
“I would like to thank the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and our regional coordinator and assistant coordinator for our grant. They all do a great job not only for our region, but for the State of Georgia as well.”~ Sheriff Ross Henry
