(Franklin, GA) — For the past several years, Sheriff Ross Henry and the Heard County Sheriff’s Office has collected monetary donations as well as new, unopened toys to provide to needy children for Christmas.

“This is one of my favorite projects that we are able to provide to our children that is sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office, but this would not be possible without the help and the caring hearts of so many wonderful people in and around our county,” says Sheriff Henry.

“There are not enough words to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes this project possible. I am so proud to live in a community where so many people care.”

The Heard County Department of Family & Children Services takes applications from local families and screens the requests.

Parents or guardians are asked to list several toys their children are requesting along with their clothing and shoe sizes.

The approved requests are then sent to the Sheriff’s Office for ‘Santa Claus’ to fill.

For Christmas 2019, almost 300 children were provided with toys, bicycles and clothing.

“There are too many wonderful and caring people to thank individually for their donations and contributions, but I do want to sincerely thank all businesses (local and outside Heard County), local Churches, local residents and other individuals, Heard County DFACS, Franklin Police Department, Heard County Codes Enforcement Office, Heard County Government Offices and my staff at the Sheriff’s Office. All these ‘Angels’ help make this a wonderful Christmas for so many” adds Sheriff Henry. “I wish you all a blessed and Happy New Year.
