Heard County baseball to host alumni game this Friday

(Franklin, GA) — The Heard County High School baseball program will be hosting an alumni game and home run derby this Friday at Alford Field. Varsity head coach Trent Bianco

“The idea is just to get some of our former players together for a fun time. Many of them may not know about all the changes and improvements we’ve made with our facilities and we thought this would be a good opportunity to reintroduce them to our program and give them a chance to get back out there on the field themselves,” says Bianco.

Almost 50 former Brave players have already signed up to participate in the game and related festivities.

Some of the players are recent graduates who played under Bianco while others such as former standout Tim Meacham played in the early 2000’s and all the way back to the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.

If the numbers work out, Bianco plans to have an even match-up such as the odd number graduating years versus the even number graduating years.

The Home Run Derby which will by similar to the MLB All-Star variety and will begin at 6:00 PM followed by the game itself at 7:30 PM.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend ant tickets are just $5.00 for the event with proceeds being used to pay for shirts for all of the participants. Concessions will also be available.
