Heard County Schools currently reporting 0 confirmed cases of COVID-19

(Franklin, GA) — According to a district-wide figures released by Heard County Superintendent Rodney Kay, Heard County Schools are currently reporting zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 among students or staff at any of the five local schools.

Mr. Kay has released numbers each Friday since school reopened on August 5.

Of the 1774 students currently participating in face-to-face instruction, only 15 total students and three total employees were quarantined for possible exposure to the virus as of yesterday’s report.

There are 283 employees in the system and 2064 total students including 210 virtual students.

There were nine positive students and 60 students quarantined according to the previous report released on August 21.

Countywide COVID-19 numbers have also improved as of late with only 18 new cases reported over the last two weeks according to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Daily Status Report.

Additionally, there have been zero COVID-19 deaths reported this month in Heard County and five overall. The last confirmed death took place on July 31 according to the state report.

The Franklin Nursing Home also is reporting no current or presumptive positive cases of COVID-19.
