Heard County Sheriff’s Office Secret Santa

(Franklin) — For the past several years, the Heard County Sheriff’s Office has collected monetary contributions as well as clothing and toy donations to provide for needy children at Christmas.

The Heard County Department of Family and Children’s Services takes applications from local families and screens the requests.

Parents and/or guardians are asked to list several toys their children are requesting along with clothing and shoe sizes.

The approved requests are sent to the Sheriff’s Office for “Santa Claus” to fill. This year over 350 children were provided with toys, bicycles and clothing.

“This is one of my favorite projects that we are able to provide to our children that is sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office. This would not be possible without the help and the caring hearts of so many wonderful people in and around our county,” says Heard County Sheriff Ross Henry.

“There are not enough words to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes this project possible. I am so proud to live in a community where so many people care.”

“This year we even had a 9-year-old little girl go shopping and deliver toys to us from the movie Frozen, to help fulfill some of the children’s Christmas wishes.”

Also this year a basketball game was held between Heard County Public Safety Officials and Heard County School System Staff members to raise money and toys for our program. Hopes are to make this a yearly event. Fun was had by all who participated and attended.

“There are too many people to thank individually for their donations and contributions, but I do want to sincerely thank all businesses (local and outside Heard County), local Churches, local residents and other individuals, Heard County DFACS, Heard County Schools, the Franklin Police Department, the Heard County Codes Enforcement Office, the Heard County Government Offices and my staff at the Sheriff’s Office. All these “Angels” help make this a wonderful Christmas for so many,” said Henry.

“I want to wish you all a safe and very Merry Christmas and a blessed and Happy New Year.”
