HES Academic Bowl team places 4th at Region Finals

The Heard Elementary 4th-5th grade Academic Bowl team competed against the top 16 school systems in the entire seven county West Georgia RESA region last Tuesday at Mt. Zion Elementary school in Carroll County.

The team placed 4th overall which was the highest finish in school history. The Braves won their matches in all three rounds of the competition versus Rosemont (Troup), Hollis Hand (Troup) and Welch (Coweta).

During the competition teams of four answer 20 toss-up questions and with a correct answer then answer two bonus questions. All correct answers receive 10 points.

The Braves scored 570 points over the three rounds. The team is coached by Loretta Shaw and Sheri Phillips.

The winner of the meet was Arbor Springs Elementary from Coweta County.
