HHS Graduate Earns Master’s Degree at UGA

(Athens, GA) — Amber Keim, a local graduate of Heard County Comprehensive High School (Class of 2004) and the University of West Georgia (Class of 2009), will graduate from the University of Georgia on Friday, May 13, 2016.

Amber will receive a Master’s Degree in Middle Grades Education. Amber is the wife of Drew H. Keim and mother to 4-year-old Abigail. She is the daughter of David and Shelia Beard of Franklin.

While attending UGA, Amber earned her In-Field Gifted Endorsement from the university’s College of Education.

She also obtained certification to teach high school math, middle grades social studies, middle grades language arts, and middle grades reading in her time at the university even though she was already considered to be a “Highly Qualified” educator by the state by being certified to teach middle grades math and middle grades science.

Amber plans to continue teaching sixth grade math at Mason Creek Middle School (Douglas County School System) in Winston, Georgia next year as she enters her fifth year of teaching.

She would like to further her education by conferring a specialist’s degree in the field in the future, but wants to take some time off from school to spend it with her family.

Amber also plans to spend this time perfecting her craft and seeking out leadership roles at work and in the community.
