HHS hosts FBLA Region Leadership Conference

(Franklin, GA) — On Tuesday, January 30, Heard County High School was the host site for the FBLA Region 7 Leadership Conference.

Region 7 is made up of eight counties including Heard, Carroll, Coweta, Douglas, Haralson, Paulding, Cobb and Polk.

Approximately 35 schools were represented at the conference with over 450 in attendance.

The Heard County FBLA Chapter was well represented in several events.  Congratulations to these students who placed in their events.

Mikayla Higgins (1st Place – Impromptu Speaking), Charles Bryan (1st Place – Business Financial Math), and Michael Payton (2nd Place – Business Communications) will each advance to the State Leadership Conference in March.

Other top Heard County students at the conference were Mason Hudson (3rd Place – Business Calculations), (Lacey Hindman & Holly Moreland 3rd Place – Business Ethics), and Jessica Tatum (6th Place – Job Interview).

“I would like to thank all the Heard High faculty and student volunteers who helped with the conference,” said Mrs. Angela Thomspon, FBLA adviser.

“A special thank you goes to all the community and business volunteers who helped with judging and administering the events. Your support of FBLA and encouragement of business training for our high school students is greatly appreciated. We also thank our administrators Mr. Tisdale, Mr. Edwards, and Mrs. Bonner for volunteering and helping in many areas from administering events, announcing winners and supervising food distribution to over 450 students and advisers.”

The Georgia Chapter of FBLA continues to be the largest state FBLA chapter in the nation with a membership of over 25,000.

FBLA is an important partner in the success of school-to-work programs, business education curriculums, and student leadership development.
