Probate Judge Joseph Bledsoe (L) swears in new District 4 School Board Member Greg Holcomb at the Heard County Courthouse this week.

(Franklin) — The Heard County school board unanimously approved the appointment of District 4 board member elect Greg Holcomb to serve the remaining term of former board member Tim Holtzclaw.

Holtzclaw’s resignation from the position was approved during a June 14 BOE meeting.

A long-time board member, Holtzclaw chose not to run for re-election and resigned after moving out of the district earlier this year.

Holcomb ran unopposed for the non partisan position during the May primary election cycle and was already set to take over the position in January of 2017.

“I am honored to finish the term of Tim Holtzclaw, who has been a long time friend of mine and who I feel has done a great job representing District 4,” said Holcomb after being sworn into office this week.

“I look forward to working with the board, staff and especially the students of Heard County. I think we are quickly becoming a model school system for not only small communities but all communities throughout Georgia.”
