Hutchins shuts down Jordan; Braves remain perfect in region

Ryan Hutchins continued his strong pitching for the Braves Tuesday in Columbus as they knocked off Jordan 8-1 to move to 4-0 in Region 5-AA.

Hutchins pitched a complete game and picked up his third win on the young season. He now sports a 1.78 ERA in the six games he has pitched in. Tuesday he threw 94 pitches across seven innings and struck out six Red Jacket batters.

The Braves played well defensively committing only one error. After the first two innings were scoreless, the Braves bats came to life late with two runs in the top halves of the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.

The win was a nice rebound for the Braves who were narrowly defeated by Handley 7-6 at home Monday.

Dalton Reed connected for the Brave’s first home-run of the season vs. the Tigers and followed that up with two more base hits yesterday. Cody Chapman, Brandon Smith, and Ryan Harrod also each had two hits Tuesday in Columbus.

The Braves will be at home tomorrow to host the Troup Tigers (5:30) before traveling to Temple Friday (5:00) for another important region tilt.
