Akers was the top vote getter with 49.16% of the votes during the three way primary race back in June.

The second place finisher in the primary was Perry with third place candidate Ken Lawler not qualifying for Tuesday’s runoff.

Perry turned the tables on election day garnering 108 votes to 53 for Akers.

Perry finished the race with a 17-15 lead in early voting while Akers took the absentee ballots 73-60.

There were 326 votes cast for a turnout of 20.62% of the registered D2 voters.

The special election race was the only item on the ballot.

Perry will be sworn in for the remainder of the term and the District 2 position will be up for re-election once again in 2022.
