(Franklin, GA) — The James Stewart Chapter National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is pleased to announce that Matthew Levens has been selected as the DAR Good Citizen Award Recipient by the Heard County Class of 2017.

Matthew is the grandson of Tilmon and Vicki of Franklin.

The student selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen must have the following qualities: Dependability (which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality); Service (which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others); Leadership (which includes personality, self-control, and ability to assume responsibility); and Patriotism (which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community, and nation) to an outstanding degree.

Matthew’s peers, the students in the Heard High Class of 2017, selected him for this award.

As a senior, Matthew stays busy taking classes at Heard High and working for the Heard County Recreation Department. Matthew plans be an electrical engineer and looks forward to attending Georgia Tech in the future.

Each chapter in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is allowed to honor one student from each local high school each year.

We are so pleased to be able to honor Matthew Levens this year as the James Stewart Chapter Class of 2017 DAR Good Citizen Award winner from Heard High School.

We would like to thank Mrs. Becky Roberts, counselor at Heard High School for her help in making this award possible.
