On Saturday, September 22, six members of the James Stewart Chapter attended the Constitution Luncheon at the Ansley Golf Club in Atlanta.  Nancy Hill, Lauren Baker, Rita Porter, Carla Brown, Bonnie Baker, and Beverly Baker all attended and enjoyed the luncheon greatly.

There were almost 200 DAR members in attendance.  Everyone was dressed to the nines, and some were wearing hats.  Lunch was a chicken-pot-pie, but with no crust; there was a puff pastry placed gently on top instead.  Dessert and coffee rounded out the meal.  It was relished by all!

The guest speaker was Dr. Brion McClanahan.  Dr. McClanahan is the author of ‘The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Founding Fathers’, and ‘The Founding Fathers Guide to the Constitution’.   He spoke about how the U.S. Constitution is interpreted by ‘the right’ and by ‘the left’.

The true interpretation is by the authors themselves he said.  Dr. McClanahan studied writings and speeches from the Founders to understand ‘their’ interpretation of this all important document.

If you would like to hear Dr. McClanahan speak about this topic, a speech he gave recently at Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phoenix City, Alabama,  was recorded by C-Span and can be found at www.c-spanvideo.org/program/FathersG.
